Greenpeace against world hunger solution
Gene modification could be a very useful thing. Crops that produce medicine or clean water are only two examples of what you could accomplish with gene modification. There are groups that are against gene modification, Greenpeace for example. I think it is because lack of knowledge. They are just afraid of “the unknown”, precisely like children who are afraid of the dark. And that’s actually kind of cute.
Also Greenpeace says that it’s bad when you modify crops to be resistant to round ups. In this case I partly agree. But Greenpeace make it look like that’s the only kind of genetically modification, they are giving a small view.
Sure, people could get allergic to genetically modified products, but that happens with “normal” products too. Sure, a genetically modified crop could disturb an ecosystem, but that happens with “normal” crops too. Maybe we shouldn’t have farms at all. Maybe we shouldn’t have food at all.
There are risks with everything. Genetically changes happen naturally too, but then it’s not dangerous because it’s natural. Bullshit. Of course all genetically changes could be dangerous for us humans. But I don’t believe that the risk is greater just because the change happens in a laboratory. Gene modification could actually be a solution for some of the world’s greatest problems.
